Making Structure Measurable

Every poker tournament has a different structure. What the organiser publishes — the blind structure and its conditions — determines depth of play, the room left for decisions, and exposure to variance.

The GSI Intelligence Engine turns each tournament's published structure into comparable data and assigns it a GSI Score from 0 to 100 — consistent, readable, identical for everyone.

GSI rates the tournament's structure, not the event as a whole.

What GSI analyzes

Each structure is analysed in depth by a versioned engine: nine components are measured, weighted and cross-referenced. The same rules apply to every structure, without exception — no structure is measured differently from another. Formulas, weightings and thresholds remain proprietary.

What GSI does not measure

The event's prestige, the prize pool, the number of entrants, the organization, the field, the lived experience — and the buy-in: a tournament's price has no part in its rating. A €100 tournament and a €10,000 tournament are judged by exactly the same standard.

The GSI Score

Every complete, validated structure receives a score from 0 to 100, along with 7 stars (fill proportional to the score) and a label: Turbo · Fast · Playable · Deep Play · Skill. The detailed report presents the structure's strengths and weaknesses, level by level.

A frozen engine, a reproducible score

The GSI Intelligence Engine is versioned and frozen: same structure, same engine, same score — today, tomorrow, for everyone. Published scores only change when the structure's own data is corrected. Formulas, weightings and thresholds remain proprietary, to preserve the integrity of the rating system.

Scope, equality and ties

A defined scope. The GSI Score is measured on the first 20 playing levels, breaks excluded. Beyond that, the grid is not measured. That is where depth of play is decided: those levels set the room left for decisions. What follows is played at stacks too short to tell one structure from another — measuring it would add noise, not information. Two structures identical over those 20 levels therefore receive the same score, even if their grids diverge afterwards.

Equal measurement means equal score. If everything GSI measures is identical, the score is identical. That is a guarantee, not a limitation: the same blind schedule replayed — satellites, qualifiers, the daily tournaments of one series — must produce the same rating. A rating that drifted between two identical structures would not be a rating.

Ties are ranked as in sport. Tied structures share the same rank, and the ranks behind are consumed. Two structures tied in first place both rank first; nobody ranks second; the next one ranks third. It is the rule of the podium — two golds, no silver, bronze to the next — and the standard of sports rankings. Splitting a genuine tie would mean inventing a difference GSI did not measure.
